But it tells a powerful true story few know about, with solid acting, costumes, set design etc. I find the American Civil War under-emphasized by Hollywood (not unlike WW1); the Nazis get most of Tinseltown's attention. 'Free State of Jones' isn't quite Gone With the Wind, but it'll transport you back there, teach you a thing or two and most certainly hold your interest.
